John Murphy

John MurryName: John Murphy

Nationality: Irish

My name is John Murphy and I am employed as an Engineering Officer with the Irish Defence Forces holding the rank of Captain.
I will be training for and doing this event with two other army colleagues of mine Captain Neil Curran and Lieutenant Mark Brogan.

I have a bit of experience in these types of events as outlined below under the experience heading.

I also have done an 250km endurance race called RacingThePlanet: Nepal 2011 in which I was part of a three man Irish team that won the team category despite injuries, vomiting , diarrhea, stone throwing and a raft of other mishaps. This was an extreme event and we took part in order to raise money for Irish Motor Neuron Disease raising approx €10,000 in the process.

I am currently training for another RacingThePlanet event in Iceland in August 2013. It consists of 250k over arduous terrain over 7 days. I will be forming part of the only Irish team to enter the event. the team is called "Bold Puppy"

I am also the Co-owner and founder of Bold Puppy,a Film Production Company with my Brother James. We are shooting a documentary of the race in Iceland and I hope that "The Race" will be my next venture. We have filmed a number of previous adventure type events and produced a documentary about a cycling race around Ireland that took place in the second half of 2012. We have also produced a documentary for TV3 called "Crimes That Shook Ireland" which aired in 2012. We have also produced a number of music videos including two videos for upcoming Dingle band 'Walking On Cars" - these videos have received 100,000+ hits on YouTube at this point.
