Background (Reasons for attempting The Race)

I love extreme challanges, the idea of an unsupported challange like this really appeals to me. I am a member of an all year round sea swimming club in Skerries county Dublin and have taken part in many long distance open water swims with these. Im 37 years old and work as a fireman in Dublin Airport, i keep myself fit but im not really interested in ultra competative race challanges, I  love the commaradarie of events like this where the goal is to complete the race rather than to beat your fellow competitor.

Experience

I have taken part in the Dublin city marathon in 2011. I was a member of a team that undertook a mountain challange, climbing the 18 highest peaks in Ireland in under 72 hours. I have taken part in the celtic challange rowing race twice and rowed as part of a crew to hollyhead on another seperate occasion just for the craic. I was a keen (if not particularly skilled) gaelic footballer. I have taken part in the toughguy race in wolverhampton UK twice.
