• THE RACE: 250 KILOMETERS 24 HOURS.

    The Race is a 250 km unsupported endurance event across the rugged landscape of North West Donegal. To finish competitors have to complete 15km of kayaking, 166km of cycling, 5km of mountain running and 64km of road and trail running. It is the ultimate 24 hour test of endurance. The Race takes place in Spring each year. The 2018 event took place on the weekend of 13th-15th April.

Background (Reasons for attempting The Race)

I entered "The Race" because it seemed like a mad crazy event to part of.I have never participated in a 24 hr event before and wanted to see if body and mind were up to the challenge. Some people call it madness.

I took up running 12 years ago, I compete in all disciplines from cross country, track and road racing. Have over 150 championship medals for county, munster and national events, two British master track medals and 6 marathons under my belt, 3.16 is my pb from Dublin 2012.

I took up cycling six years ago, and after entering many local duathlon races , went on to represent Ireland in the 2010 European duathlon championships.

Have a few adventure races completed, Gael force west was one of those, where i was 6th lady home.

I now run with Waterford Athletic Club and cycle with the Biscuit Club. A super bunch of people.
