Background (Reasons for attempting The Race)

I have a background in Athletics, but nothing competitive for some 14 years. Since then I have spent a lot of time mountain biking and hiking in the Alps. Currently live and work in Sub Sahara Africa. I have been coaching locally, and it brought out the desire for a new and fresh challenge. Plus, The Race takes place at home, and there is nowhere better.

Experience

Competed in a few half's', lots of 10km, track, mountain runs, a couple of sprint triathlons. I live and train in extreme conditions, with temperatures up to 50C in the summer and high 30Cs in the winter. It is very hot, dry and windy. It teaches a lot about fluid and nutrition. Hopefully this will help.
