Background (Reasons for attempting The Race)

I am a seasoned year round open water swimmer and competitor, specialising in long distance open water events. i am a Firefighter of 14 years experience. i thrive on extreme events and i have never and will never give up on an event until it is complete. I have practiced martial arts since the age of 6 and have represented Ireland on the world stage and won, i feel that martial arts have given me the discipline and focus necessary for these type of extreme events. I will be taking part in the Race with my best friend since childhood Brian Conway, i feel that taking part in the Race with such a close friend will give both of us a huge advantage as when either of us hit a low ebb we will not allow each other to fail no matter what. I keep myself very fit but i feel that my strongest attribute is my mental strength and unshakable belief.

Experience

I have swam from Cleggan in Mayo to Inis Boffin, a Distance of 17 miles I have completed two Dublin City marathons, I have lead a team of firemen on a "Pump Push" from Dublin to Belfast pushing a fire engine and a one tonne pump, I have completed many triathlons and road races of varying distances and over different surfaces. I ran the Tough Guy race in Wolverhampton twice, i completed the Deborah Ireland mountain half marathon. I have taken part in and completed many other challenges and would be happy to give you details of same if you need them.
