Background (Reasons for attempting The Race)

Always had an interest in outdoor sports. Played GAA from early age to mid-twenties. Raced bikes under-age on irish circuit for about 5 years. Swam from early age too. Took up triathlon in mid-thirties, mainly to regain fitness, but it has snowballed from there. Have done ironman lanzarote twice , mainly because of the difficult course. Looking for a different challenge, different multisport. Good way of raising money for charity too.

Experience

Have done many aquathons, duathlons & triathlons over the last few years, up to present. examples : Escape from Ireland swim, Ireman off-road triathlon, Howth olympic triathlon, many other sprint/olympic triathlons. Dublin city marathon. Galway half-ironman, shadowman half ironman, athy double-olympic (twice), Ironman Lanzarote 2013 & 2014.
