Nationality: Irish

Background

I am a Truck/Bus Driver and a part time Student in NWRC Derry. In September 2015 I start my L4 Diploma. I am also a Father and a Grandfather to three of the most beautiful people I know. Not that the rest of you aren't beautiful by the way. I decided to enter the Race because I could really.I spent a lot of time questioning my ability to run and cycle and had it sold to myself that I was too old!! All in the head really.
I was inspired by my younger brother Alan who was a participant in The Race 2014 and more so by the participants of my own age. I followed them for the whole day to the Last leg which was the marathon. Wow! I said. And so I got started and entered some events, 5k 10k Half marathon Duathlon and adventure races. I am by no means an experienced athlete but I am always trying to improve to the best of my ability.

Experience

My experience to date Since January 2014 is various 5k and 10k races a half marathon and a 10 mile race. I have competed twice in Gaelforce North and Gaelforce West and I train whenever i can fit it in. In a weeks time I will be running my First Marathon in Longford and feel it is in the bag already! Not the ego at work I just know I have done the training and feel ready ;) Of course anything can happen on the day. And from here on in I just need to stay focused on my Goal and look forward to the Autumn and Winter nights..Thanks for taking the time to read this.
