Having competed in a number of endurance races and on seeing this on the UTV news and the challenge of training for and taking part in the 2015 event immediately appealed. I am aware of the training and sacrifices required to make the start line of a race like this. Wiser old souls have suggested that it may be a case of not being rocked enough on your mother's knee as a wean.... But for me, the main reason for taking part in The Race is down to the obvious challenge that this will provide.
Having taken part in the 2013 Mourne Ultra and then the 4 man team event in the 2014 Race Around Ireland - with some of the same friends that will also be competing in The Race - it was decided that the next logical step would be to take part in The Race and what better way to spend the winter months than cycling, running and paddling the highways and waterways of South Down and South Armagh!
