• THE RACE: 250 KILOMETERS 24 HOURS.

    The Race is a 250 km unsupported endurance event across the rugged landscape of North West Donegal. To finish competitors have to complete 15km of kayaking, 166km of cycling, 5km of mountain running and 64km of road and trail running. It is the ultimate 24 hour test of endurance. The Race takes place in Spring each year. The 2018 event took place on the weekend of 13th-15th April.

Background (Reasons for attempting The Race)

I have been competing in adventure races for the last 5 years having had a background in road cycling prior to taking on multi-sport events. I live locally on The Race route and the time is right to take on the challenge, one that I am really looking forward to! 

Experience

I have ridden the An Post Rás twice and numerous other cycling races. Adventure racing includes; 1st Ireland's Coast-2-Coast 2016, 1st Gaelforce North 2014 & 2015, 2nd Sea2Summit 2015, 1st Connemara Rough Diamond 2014,  National Adventure Race Series 2014 5th overall, Runaway Donegal series winner 2015, Itera Expedition Race 2016.

Trail running includes; 2nd CTS Dorset Plus, 20th Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc OCC 2014, 3rd Gaelforce Mountain Run 2015.
