• THE RACE: 250 KILOMETERS 24 HOURS.

    The Race is a 250 km unsupported endurance event across the rugged landscape of North West Donegal. To finish competitors have to complete 15km of kayaking, 166km of cycling, 5km of mountain running and 64km of road and trail running. It is the ultimate 24 hour test of endurance. The Race takes place in Spring each year. The 2018 event took place on the weekend of 13th-15th April.

Background (Reasons for attempting The Race)

Ex military physical training instructor, strength coach, experienced in adventure racing, mountain navigation, sea kayaking, marathon running and other endurance events. I am entering the Race because it's a serious challenge and a great motivation to stay focused on being alive.

Experience

I have competed in Gaelforce West 5 times, Gaelforce North 2 times, HH Killarney 3 times, Rat Race AR 2 times, Ironman UK, Ironman Switzerland (both DNF..still hurts) Numerous bike sportive events, marathons and long distance kayaking. I will be undertaking the Mourne Mountain Marathon in September as the last event before The Race 2017, all focus shifts to it then.
