I've competed in many charity events before for the Irish cancer society etc but "The Race 2017" is the biggest challenge I have set myself. As I love a challenge I'm really looking forward to it and meeting the other people entering the event.
I'm not an elite athlete by any means & I'm new to adventure racing but within the last year, I have ramped my training to running about 40km and about 180km cycling a week.I've completed a few duathlons in the last few months including "Gaelforce West 2016" & "Slieve Aughty Mountain Adventure 60km chanlange". I have completed a few half marathons, the latest was in Wicklow for the Wicklow Hospice. I have competed in several smaller road races also.
I like to train in the Wicklow mountains (Glendalough) I have a path I do which is about 21km which included two mountains peaks - I like an early morning start 5am.
I got my first road bike only a few months ago but love to get out for a cycle, I aim to cycle 3 time per week and currently do about 180km per week. Again, I also completed a few charity rides in the last few months.
I'm looking forward to meeting the other competitors & to "The Race 2017" event itself in March next year.
