Background (Reasons for attempting The Race)
I started racing in 2004 after never having taken part in any activity for most of my adult life. I entered the Dublin marathon and started training weighing 19 stone. I completed the marathon in 4.35 and moved on from there. I then began to take on triathlons and became a lot fitter and it was life changing. I then went on to become a fitness instructor and I now run a small gym/studio and love every minute of it.
I compete in duathlons every year in Ireland. 6-7 Half marathons, best of 79 min. 8 marathons best of 2.50. 5 half ironman distance, 6 ironman distance races best being 9.47. I finished 6th in the Race 2016. I ran the fastest marathon of the day which I was delighted with and I enjoyed every minute of the Race! I competed in the Dublin marathon this year and finished in 2:48.
