Background (Reasons for entering The Race)
I have played GAA for most of my life but in the last 5-6 years I have started to participate in triathlons, adventure races and other running events. I am interested in entering The Race in order to challenge myself and push myself to my limits. In sport I most enjoy the moments where your body is tired and spent and wants to stop but your mind takes over and pushes you the rest of the way. I am also interested in changing my training focus for an endurance event as opposed to the shorter events I have completed. Finally I looking forward to supporting the Self Help Africa charity. My cousin previously completed the Tour d'Afrique as a fundraiser for Self Help Africa and his experience with this endurance race has been a driver for me to enter The Race.
Experience
Fastnet triathlon x2, King of the Hill triathlon, Ballydavid triathlon, various legs of the Cork Marathon, Wicklow Adventure Race, Dingle Adventure Race.
