Background (Reasons for attempting The Race)

This race is the ultimate in Irish adventure racing, and beyond. Ironman is in one league, The Race is far beyond this. It will combine physical endurance but more importantly psychological perseverance and finely tuned nutrition. I began endurance and adventure racing in 2011. I have completed Gaelforce west on three occasions, beating my time on each race and placed in the top 5% in each of them. I enjoy endurance cycling having completed Malinto Mizen Head in 2012 (660km, 25 hours) with one other cyclist. I also enjoy mountain climbing and have summited most of Irelands peaks, Ben Nevis and Mount Kilimanjaro. Aconcagua in South America is my next peak on the Seven Summit calendar. I enjoy regular aquathons, duathlons and Triathlonswith Ironman on the calendar for 2016. Entering and completing this race would be a highlight of my racing so far.
